The Black Book Nomad Theatre

The Black Book is an emergent experimental theatre project founded in London, England, that understands nomadism as a natural human  condition of moving through time and space. Applied to the theatre concept, the company moves intentionally to place to place, permeating itself  from every cultural experience. Formed by a collaboration of artists coming from different fields of art, the project seeks to open the possibilities of a collaborative interdisciplinary work.

As in the case of the nomad condition where the organized rotation of settlements ensure a maximum use of available natural resources, the project rotates to ensure maximum  use/abuse of cultural resources, practicing the space from its own boundaries, as outsider, voyeur and exiled entity.

The Black Book, by moving, reinvents itself and  by doing this, reinvents its own world and objects, all part of a vision expressed in theatrical acts. In this respect the project seeks to create its own language and rituals through a creative process of deconstruction by investigating and questioning its own semiotics, narrative and all theatre conventions.

BBNT started in December 2007 and formed its shape today through new collaborations and the performances of Heliogabale or The Anarchist Crowned by Antonin Artaud  and The Black Book by The Black Book. At the moment the company is working in Berlin on its new devised piece "Double Act", freely inspired by the homonymous play by Eugene Ionesco.
